Default Whats up with iB?

I was anxious to see the battles for the semi-finals for the current play-offs. So after watching the victory of Evil over EW, I went to iB vs WM...

WTF?? a henchie? in iB? a monk wearing special event head-items?

I guess 3 people of iB where absent (I recall you can apply 10 people for the play-offs?) and some serious trouble is in there atm. anybody any idea what happened? To be honest I found it a real shame this battle was fought and now external replacement could be brought in.

What are your thoughts about this?

Right now people say power outages, and I think a guy had army duties.

I think they were waiting on Anet to allow a rematch.

Which is why both sides were playing around.

Both teams are already going to Germany though, so in the grand scale of things it makes little difference.

My thoughts were somebody had to be somewhere, and just making it to that stage, iB made it to Germany, so they didn't care.

They didn't have to win that match anyway.

Well...maybe it does make a difference on who they fight in Germany itself.

Gold rim doesnt fit to their guild cape?

I really doubt that... but it might be... It suprisingly that the monk did not get any headshots of significance...

The same thing happened last season with DtwO versus Char where there was a scheduling problem and DtwO got the bad end of it and took four henchies into the playoffs. In this case it doesn't matter but in some cases, anet screws over certain teams with their scheduling. Basically, they send each player on the team an email with a time and date of the match and say that if you can't make it, to let the other team know and try to reschedule. However, this may not always be easy because at other times, the other team will not be able to make it and the game must be played at the time that anet designated. It's no one's fault really, but having different time zones seems to be a consistent issue in the playoffs.

If the other team can't make the scheduled time, there is no reason for the other team to reschedule if they can make it. In fact it would be beneficial for them to refuse to reschedule because if they do the other team will likely have to play with henchies.

Peace,

The winner of the WM vs. iB matches would be guaranteed a top 1 or 2 seed in germany and therefore a first round bye and at least $10k instead of $2.5k

I don't believe that was the case in this particular situation though, just to clarify incase anyone gets the wrong idea.

I wasn't aware it would have made that much of a difference, fair enough though.

According to a member of iB:

Quote:
Ok, the story.

We agreed around 9 GMT @ Tuesday to play vs WM Wednesday 15 GMT.

We sent mail to [email protected]

It was 4th july and no1 was working - no agreement on arenanets side.

WM was unable to play any other day.

3 guys of our ranks had other things for the whole weekend so they could not play.

Conclusion: Henchie.

Explains a lot indeed... Nice they are taking it properly... thats life...they knew and they didnt count on weird americans with their 4th of july It was just ashame this match was played... it looked horrible...not worthy putting up...

but financialy its indeed the difference between a safe $2.5k and a safe $10k... but of course they can always kick ass in Leipzig...

yeah I would be upset if I lost a gaurenteed 7.5k because of scheduling, but I don't think they would have gotten first or second either way.

Some guy in iB just moved has a job and can not play in the play-offs as much and iB is meh WM > iB. I mean WM can beat iB no sweat broken.

Both are extremely good teams, and I've seen both win in head-to-head matches. Let's at least show some respect to iB, eh?

In the GWFWC season 2, iB rolled WM in 2 rounds (correct me if I'm wrong)...

True... making it till VoD with a henchie and a monk running with his special-event headgear is a feat few guilds can pull off...
